Going to OC my Q9550 on air, like to know a stable OC frequency and what kind of temps it gets.

I will be using a Intel DP45SG P45 board, a Q9550, and 8GB (4x2GB) of Patriot Viper DDR3 1333 RAM.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. :)

I have a q9300 oc'd to 3.8 - but on liquid. Air will get me load temps of 78+ so that wont do it.

Quads operate hotter normally compared to duals - so keep that in mind. Even at stock, it can idle at 40-45c.

I've had my 9300 oc'd to 3.7 on air - with load temps up to 67c - so that's not bad.

I'm on liquid now, oc'd to 3.82 and loads at 68c - that's about as high as I'm willing to go - vcore is 1.45 for 3.82 (droop to 1.38).

I use a Biostar TPOWER I45 - 510fsb x 7.5. Hope that helps.

oh - my liquid setup is a swiftech h20-220.

I am running my Q9550 at 3.6 GHz with a TRUE/Scythe S-Flex fan in an Antec 900 case.

Your CPU cooler will be your limiting factor. The ACF7P is a great economy cooler but I wouldn't run a Q9550 past 3.3 GHz. with one.
