I recently purchased a new computer (a little over a month) and for the past week or so it has been shutting itself down... No error message, no warning beeps, nothing. I go from doing whatever I am doing (whether it be playing a game or surfing the web) to a fully powered off system (as if I were to pull the plug out of the wall).
When this happens I can power it right back on and it will work fine, but it happens at least once a day and sometimes up to 3 or 4 times a day. I have a program that monitors the CPU temp as well as the mobo temp and when this happens it's usually at: CPU 51c / Mobo 49-51c, and my GPU is at 62c.
What I have done so far:
-I recently installed 4 new fans into the case in hopes that it was an airflow problem, but that did not help. I even went as far as to leave my case's side panel open (thinking my comp was overheating) and it still powered off.
-I also purchased a new UPS just to make sure that maybe it was an issue with mny old one not being able to supply enough power (I bought the APC 1300w UPS w/ digital display).
Here are my systems specs:

I was thinking that maybe my PSU was faulty, but it's less than a month old...
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

Well, how so you know that your temp program is accurate ? It's always possible that it isn't calibrated and your cpu is overheating and causing the board to shut down.
Most likely though, your power supply is overheating and shutting off to protect itself, better quality units have thermisters in them to shut them off in an overheat situation.
"Now if the 4870x2 was actually notably faster than the 280 for about the same price, then I might even take a chance on it. However, that won't be the case."
The temp program I am using is the one that came with my motherboard... I believe it is called AIsuite or something along those lines. Are those temps really that high? (sorry, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff) Also, what can I do to help it not run as hot? Could there be something wrong with the set up that would make it get hotter than it's supposed to?
I'm was just skeptical about it being over heating bething that I didn't think my computer could really be getting so hot that it turns itself off in an air conditioned room with the side of the case open and a fan blowing into it...
I was just starting with the most likely scenarios, it could also be a defective part, or an intermittent short tripping any over current shutoff your ps has built in.

Download Prime95 and RealTemp. Also download CPUZ.
Run Prime95 Small FFT and monitor the temps from RealTemp. (RealTemp > CoreTemp). Tell us what you get under full Prime95 load. Also check CPUZ for CPU throttling back if temps are too high.

I'm from the US as well... But yeah, RC cola = Royal Crown Cola.
But Royal Crown Draft Cola is like the premium version of it... Made with pure cane sugar, pure filtered water, etc... A buddy of mine had some at his apt. and it was AMAZING.
Running the tests know, I'll post all the info shortly.
I don't really know what any of these numbers mean so I figured that I would lust post screenshots here (sorry )... But going from what I've learned growing up, Fire is bad... And some of these are on fire. Sooooo, yeah.... that's all I got.
Here is one with my idle temps:

Thanks again for looking this over and helping me out!
Shadow, did you ever buy some computer related junk with your bday dough ?
Bought RAM, but I'm waiting till I get back home in the States before buying other stuff. Prices in Canada a rediculously expensive. $150 for a 1GB 8600GT??? I don't think so!

Shadow, let me ask you a question... I have the Thermaltake V1 for my heatsink and after looking at it's positioning, it seems that it's blowing air directly into the fan for my PSU... Could it be that air is hot and is causing my PSU to get to hot and turn off? I know it sounds like a stretch, but could that be an issue?
I purchased a Thermaltake Maxorb and I'm going to install it when I get home tonight just if maybe that is the issue.
