I have a dual boot system, XP loads from IDE (drive C), Ubuntu installed on another SATA HDD(drive D).
The problem I have is that the XP cannot connect to the internet but when I load Ubuntu, the system can connect to the net.

ipconfig output from XP:

I have a broadband connection that goes straight to a wifi router, everything else connects to it, all mobile devices and laptops on wifi can connect to the internet. Only the desktop pc is connect by cable wire to the router and on dual boot, only xp fails to connect.
I have done:
- resetting router to default
- changing cables
- changing ports on the router where the cable from pc connects
- re-installing windows from reformatted disk
- tried the winsock fix

All those I mentioned did not work and I'm really frustrated, please help me.
he only thing I see different from what both OS sees my network is they throw different hardware address. windows gives FFFFFFF while ubuntu gives a much more realistic HwAddr?
plese help me.

It works that way before, even with that field empty. I can't connect to my router on xp, 192.168.1.1 will just return a connection error on the browser.
But if use linux I can.
This is why I ruled out a defective router, cable, or my built-in lan to be causing this because when I use ubuntu on the same system, it works, only XP can't.

IP adress is given by the router.. i tried pinging the router from cmd, it does not reach it but when I check the router, it sees the pc when it tries to connect.. I really do not know what to do anymore with it.
Re-installation of windows XP doesn't work.
Re-installation of drivers, winsock fix, does not work either.
any ideas guys...
