After a problem on my Clie UX-50 (wasn't restarting cleanly from powersave
mode), I had to do a hard reset. Since then I just cannot get wireless
hotsync to work again - it was working perfectly previously. The wireless
connection from the Clie to the desktop seems to be working fine - I can
access files on my desktop from the Clie browser via Apache.

USB hotsync works fine. Using wireless, the Clie seems to connect to the
network okay, but every time I try to hotsync, I get no response from my
desktop PC, and after a few seconds a message on the Clie appears - "The
connection between your handheld and the desktop could not be established."

I've checked the manual carefully, and double checked I've entered all the
correct settings on both the Clie, and in the hotsync program on the
desktop. The Clie seems to have the correct IP address for the desktop. The
user name for the Clie is correctly selected. I've even tried uninstalling
the Palm desktop and reinstalling, then starting afresh on the Clie after
another hard reset. I still hit the same problem.

I'm sure I must be missing something obvious, but after hours of trying over
two days, I can't think what it can be!

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Experimenting some more, I've noticed something very strange.

Each time I now try to use wireless hotsync, an entry is being generated in
my ZoneAlarm log, reporting blocked access from my static IP address to an
address which is a reversal of the local IP address of the PC I'm trying to
hotsync with - quite bizarre! So if the PC I'm trying to hotsync with has a
local address of 192.168.0.1, for example, ZoneAlarm reports a blocked
attempt to access a remote computer with address 1.0.168.192 from my static
IP address.

I tried disabling ZoneAlarm to see if hotsync would work, but it still fails
to connect properly.

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this odd behaviour, and how I might
fix it?
