Does anyone know how to pull information off an old hard drive without formatting it? I switched the setting to slave and installed the drive in a second computer I have. The bio's and windows explorer can see the hard drive but when I click on the drive it is asking me to format it. I do not want to do that because I still need the information on it. Any ideas?

#1 Put the drive back to the original computer at its original settings, copy what you want to another drive, whether it be via network or external or internal transfers. when you move it to your other computer you have nothing to worry about because you backed up your data.
#2 format it, and use recovery software to retrieve the lost/erased/formatted data (this obviously takes a lot longer than #1).
