Frst off I would like to thank you all for the help in advance I have used Toms for information a few times over the years.
This time my question is.
I have been looking at Dell computers and had one set to buy,but then I get back on there site and the only option for memory is
800 mhz (NO 667 MHZ) the processor Im looking at is-
And from what I read is that with this FSB you want 667 mHZ memory
unless your gonna overclock then the 800 mhz would be better, well I will never overclock the Dell -SO WITH THE 800 MHZ MEMORY WILL I HAVE A BOTTLENECK SOMWHERE-EITHER ON THE MEMORY SIDE OR THE FSB SIDE-OR WILL IT BE OK TO GO WITH THE 800 MHZ MEMORY?
Or should I wait for the 667 MHZ memory to be available again? Also which processor would be best for mostly video editing and web surfing (no gaming)
Go with the 800MHz, either it will be downclocked to 667MHz or it will run with a different multiplier than 1:1. On my E8400, I saw no real performance gain between the 2 so don't worry.

DDR stands for double data rate so with a fsb of 333 you will need ddr2 667 to match it 1:1. If you put ddr2 800 instead, it won't bottleneck since the memory is faster than the fsb. You could overclock the e8300 at 3.4 ghz by setting the FSB to 400 and match the ddr 800 1:1 btu i don't think it's a good idea on dell.
p.s. dell is overpriced and lower quality than if you do it yourself
The only reason to buy 667 instead of 800 is because it is cheaper. If you want a Dell, sad day, then get whatever they are selling. Ram is cheap these days so they are probably including the 800 because it sounds better even though you probably won't use it. It really doesn't make any real world difference anyway unless you need the faster RAM to OC the machine.

so if im reading right there will be no problem bottlenecking anywhere , its just that dell is probably overstocked on the one (800) and understocked on the other (667). The 800 will just run at a slower speed automaticaly.Im guessing that the Dell will be unable to overclock anyway.Im not really into the overclocking thing anyway just want to have a stable machine for the family to use.
I'm curious as to why firms like Dell offer systems with DDR3-1333 memory when the FSB is 1333 MHz. For example the XPS 730 has a Q9450 (2.66GHz, 1333MHz FSB) and DDR3-1333 memory (this is NOT an OC version). From the discussion above, and in other threads, it seems like DDR2-667 would be much cheaper and offer exactly the same performance.
2 things here, get the 8400 instead of the other Two choices you listed, it's better than the 8300 and cheaper than the 6600, and what is this dell going to cost and what are they offering? can u list the hardware???
