Thankyou Nostrodomus,when has a high end card ever been a good buy from a price/performance standpoint?

Now wait just a minute... if you're going to say that top-end GPUs aren't a good value then are you also willing to say that Intel's Extreme Edition CPUs aren't a good value?

Get the heck out of here!!!

I am so sick of hearing people complain about the prices, Nvidia has always had some cards that were too expensive with a small performance gain. Why does everyone always seem so surprised when they unleash another card that is expensive. This is life get used to it, you see the same thing in TV's, Cars, and tons of other electronics, yet they still sell. BTW I purchased a GTX280 knowing that it is to expensive, yet I do not regret and in fact am considering to buy a another one. Why you ask? Cause I can, just like all the other people who will end up buying a GTX280 and not an ATI 4850-4870...

ATI has GREAT value, but some people will prefer Nvidia in the end regardless of the price. You, not being one of them.

- AFFIRMATIVE ! QX 6600 vs Q 6600. Normal PC enthusiast must be brainless to buy the expensive Extreme edition to have multi unlocked.

I'm not ATI/NVIDIA fanboy

I don't buy brand, i buy performance for the best price i can get.

There are tons of people that already bought the 4850s. People that buy gt280s.....

actually you do know that it is possible, in all seriousness, it has been done.

If your technical knowledge is up to speed you might consider giving it a shot, as I hear good things if you can successfully do it.

Or you can click on the link, look at the much more popular games before and after the one quoted above, and see a different amount of performance. 4870 still has the best price/perf though.

@ronka:

Nvidia gtx2xx cards use more electricity than 48xx cards.

But you're right about the temps being high though, we need for HIS to make some cards with good cooling solution. I doubt the temps will do that much harm to the card,
it has life time warranty. ATI wouldn't put that up if their card was going to go toasty after 8 months.
