which Windows updates should i only worry about installing?

i hear that not all updates are benign so i was wondering which updates are
necessary to install...also, how to get a description of each update as it
notifies you. this is for Windows XP SP2.

If you go to the Update site and do a scan you will see them
listed.........High Priority....software(optional)..hardware(optional)
The High Priority ones are a necesity...........the rest you're better off
getting from the manufacturer of the software/hardware

Click Custom and it willl give you a description. I have everything AU
offers plus some optional ones and can't find a problem.
