Print spooler service not running

I've been trying to install a new printer. I don't have any other printers installed. When I try to install the printer, I get the message "The print spooler service is not running." What is wrong? How do I start the print spooler? Thanks!

  1. Best answer
From the start menu, go to Run.
    Type "services.msc" and hit enter.
Scroll down the Services window and find "Print Spooler". Double click that.
In the center of the "Print Spooler Properties" window you'll find "Startup Type".
Set that to "Automatic" and hit apply at the bottom.
Then click the "Start" button under Service Status and click OK to close the window.

This will enable Print spooler and should allow you to continue with the installation.
