Just bought seagate 500 GB 7200.12 st3500418as drive and its making constant high pitch noise, is it normal for those drives to do that ?
Does it qualifies for RMA ?

More about high pitch noise
  1. Hard to judge noise on a forum but a 7200.12 should not sound much different to any other drive of its kind - lounder/quieter maybe, but not a different noise. I'd RMA
  2. I have exactly this model, and it's perfectly silent.

Your bearings are probably out of order. Back to the seller or manufacturer.

Here examples of sounds from dead disks:

I also bought a Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM and it makes a constant annoying high pitched sound. It isn't too loud but it is really annoying.
