On xtremesystems.com user "pccriminal” shows a few pictures of his success - unfortunately he hardly added any commentary. He achieved a CPU-Z validation with 5,015.48 MHz (185.75 x 27). The processor completed Super Pi within 8.672 seconds with about 4,800 MHz and in Cinebench it achieved a score of 21,818 with 4,600 MHz. The temperatures of the Intel Core i7 975XE unfortunately remain a secret.

lol. Yeah 5MHz? You mean 5000MHz or 5GHz. Also HT is disabled by the looks of it.

Even if it came stock at 5ghz, for $1000 it wouldn't be worth it. With HT disabled, I think a 4ghz i7 920 with HT enabled would blow it away.

Sorry, I meant 5GHz (or 5000MHz :P)

Regarding an HT-enabled 920 blowing this OCed 975XE... wouldn't the software have to be written to take advantage of HT first?

Reply to r_manic

Yes it depends on software. But it'll be more impressive if HT was enabled.
