I have a Black screen and it reads check signal cable. which cable do I check?
Do you have a video card installed? If you do then you may not have switched your Bios to Onboard or PCI graphics and that may be what's causing you to not have picture.
If you don't have a video card then make sure that you're using the correct cable from your monitor to your PC. I'm currently using a VGA cable (blue rectangle-ish port) but there is also HDMI, DVI, and S-Video to choose from on some PCs. The signal cable is the video cable.
If you are using a TV or a monitor with multiple inputs then make sure that you have your monitor/TV set to the correct channel/input.
