Huh...maybe they are advertising a quad processor with the speed of an e8400 for $150? Only if it were true.
Talk about false advertising. :)

You forgot Fry's! A couple weeks ago I saw an ad there for a $250.00 8400 GTS, picture and price were obviously the 8800.

Sorry, we don't have any Fry's around KC, so I forgot about that one. Microcenter idiots always have vid cards overpriced anywhere from $30-$150 for some reason. I even asked them, and their only response is that you 'get personalized customer support if something goes wrong with the card'. Don't you usually get that with the usual warranty from the card vendor??? I can pay the +$70 to return the card in-store with a receipt?

You're totally right about their video cards, I refuse to buy them there. I just go there for CPUs and flash memory.

Despite the screw up, microcenter usually has really good cpu prices.

Funny thing is.... yes they are. It will be based on the Yorkfield process but have half the cache (6MB instead of 12mb) or something to that effect. Its to compete with the triple cores from AMD.

So either it's a typo, or Micro Center was able to send someone into the future to bring back a few trays of Q8400s. If that's the case I'll expect a Nehalem coupon in my mailbox next week. ;)

I got my Q9450 from MC for $305 shipped when the cheapest price online otherwise was $350, and newegg was sold out for two months. So whether they know what they're talking about or not, they sell their CPUs at pretty good prices :) And yeah, that's a pretty good price on an E8400 (and it's obviously an E8400, the box in the pic says Duo, but they typed Quad for no good reason).
