I just updated my system with an ECS geforce6100pm-m2 board keeping the old hard drive with xp on it.
it starts booting up and the sticks saying that the system32\config\system is corrupt I then tried reinstalling xp but that gets so far and sticks also with a warning that it could damage the system if it continues i have also tried installing onto a sata harddrive and it does the same!! Is it somthing in the bios setup? or what else could it be?

Full specs. IDE/SATA?

Have you cleared cmos & loaded bios default?

Write this to disk and boot it up for 5-8 passes overnight:

If ram checks out, it may be config (bios) or software (xp). Best do a clean install of xp.
