I am buying all of this from newegg: GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X48
with 4 Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB
and 1 Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB
powered by a CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W.
ALL BOUGHT FROM NEWEGG.
Will I need any additional SATA cables?? also will I need additional sata power cables? Anything else I would need to purchase? SATA power plug adapter? or does my psu come with one?
Also I thought I was ask this as well. When buidling my computer and setting it up...Can I just set up windows vista on just the raptor and then once that is up and running I set up my raid 5 setup with the other hardrives???
I will be using a raid card though: 3ware 9650SE-4LPML PCI Express Lanes: 4 SATA II Controller Card.
It looks like that motherboard comes with 2x SATA data cables, so you can use one of them for the raptor. The controller card comes with the data cables needed to connect the four large drives so you are covered there as well.
The power supply has 10x SATA power connectors so you are fine on that end.
And yes, you can install Vista on the raptor and then setup the RAID after.
