Hi,

Is there a performance difference between USB and PCI based wifi modules?

I'm asking because my mATX has limited expansion ports, and I'm leaning towards a USB wifi module to save space. However, I am curious about the performance difference.

Thanks for any tips!

Somewhat higher CPU usage for USB vs PCI cards.
If you need speed go with PCI, otherwise USB will work.

Bandwidth and components will be better on the PCI version.

my mATX desktop has a video card TV tuner card WiFi card, and still has space open.

how much more crap are you planning on running?

the WiFi card is so small it doesn't even mess with airflow.
