I've got a Q6600 at 3.06/1.275v (1.25 after vdroop). It's idling at 43-47 C constantly (47 on the hottest core)...

Is this ok (will it damage the CPU in any way over time?)? At full load it never sees over 64 C, which is "Safe" according to the temp guide in this section of the forum. What kind of idle temp should I be shooting for?

If your max load temps with Prime95 small ffts are 64C, then you are fine. Load temps are what's important, not idle.

Calibrate your temperatures.

Thanks, guys.

Guess I won't worry about it, then.

what programme are you using to measure your temps? Coretemp/realtemp are most recommended as most reliable "sources" to check your temps. If you stress your cpu on prime95 small fft and it´s showing up to 64 at the hottest core 64C in realtemp/coretemp that´s OK in terms of temperature BUT it´s quite hot considering your mild OC (3Ghz at 1.275). I have checked you config and if it´s correct you should have CM Hyper TX2 which is definitely not performance heatsink. Buy something better and you can oc more with lower temps.
