I have been having some severe trouble with the clipboard on my computer for roughly the past two months or so. Simply put, my copy/paste functions do not work for numerous programs that I have on my computer. I am able to copy paste within the same program (ex. I can copy in Chrome and then paste it in Chrome), but the problems begin to arise when I try to copy from one program to another. In this case it is very hit or miss, with some programs being okay, while others just downright won't accept me pasting what I have copied in another program.
The other day I did some testing where I would copy something from one program and try to paste it into another. Here are the results of the little test I did:
Chrome to Microsoft Word: Fail
Chrome to WordPad: Success
Chrome to Steam Chat Window: Fail
Chrome to Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online): Fail
WordPad to Microsoft Word: Success
WordPad to Chrome: Success
WordPad to Steam Chat Window: Fail
WordPad to Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online): Fail
Microsoft Word to Chrome: Success
Microsoft Word to WordPad: Success
Microsoft Word to Steam Chat Window: Fail
Microsoft Word to Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online): Fail
Steam Chat Window to Chrome: Success
Steam Chat Window to WordPad: Success
Steam Chat Window to Microsoft Word: Fail
Steam Chat Window to Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online): Fail
Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online) to Chrome: Success
Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online) to WordPad: Success
Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online) to Microsoft Word: Fail
Steam Game Chat Window (EVE Online) to Steam Chat Window: Fail
As you can see, copy/paste works inconsistently, and in the case of some programs it just outright isn't working. This is greatly frustrating to me because these are programs that I frequently (or did before I had this issue) would paste to.
I have surfed the web for sometime, contacted Steam support (I've had a ticket open for over 3 weeks and it isn't going anywhere), and am at an absolute loss as to where to go from here. I've read various suggestions across the net, but thus far nothing has worked. I can't system restore because I don't know precisely when this happened (Roughly early December), and by now it's been too long. Another function I read about, sfc/scannow in the cmd prompt, seems broken as it keeps telling me there is a pending system repair and that I need to reboot, but it gives me the exact same message after I've rebooted my computer.
If anyone has ideas as to how I could somehow fix this problem, I would be most appreciative.
