I have been playing something called Skulltag online. I can connect to the game itself and there were no problems while spectating. But when I join in, I get a connection interrupted and the controls don't respond.

I tried doing the custom servers in Internet Doom Explorer, changing the router settings with a Port Forwarding to 10666, and changing the Windows Firewall Settings to add an exception with a Port Forwarding to 10666, but that didn't work.

I pinged one of the Skulltag servers and I get the following statistics:

Minimum = 1242ms, Maximum = 1599ms, Average = 1412ms

I checked my ping in-game as well and it read an average of about 35.

I am using a Netgear Router, but I am unable to use an Ethernet connection since the router is too far away from my system. So, I had to use a wireless adapter. And I am using Satellite Internet Service if it makes any difference.

If there's anybody who has an experience with Doom and Skulltag that can help me out, it would be appreciated.
