As an aside given the turmoil this week with new cards, was it not just yesterday this card sold for $250 +. The same major CDN site had the Diamond flavour of the 4850 for about $169 after promo and of course the limited quantities. I am just wondering if a new sense of value has emerged not necessarily for tightwads but value seekers.
I presume the resale market has been decimated. Should I return the 8800GT since I am under my 14 day return privilege and have not opened the box. I am wondering if we will see $139. 8800GTS and $169 9800 GTX. Before the launch of these new cards decisions were much more clearer.
Might as well keep it. A stock 8800gt is about 15% slower than 4850/g92 8800gts/9800gtx (all 3 perform the same). I guess it's okay if you return it for 15% increase at a higher cost, but it's probably not worth the money and trouble.
Yes, for $109 the 8800GT is still an excellent card.
If it runs what you are playing at your resolution I wouldn't look back with the purchase.
If you want a little more power, go with the 4850.
I doubt the 9800GTX will drop to $169 any time soon as nVidia just announced their pricing as $200 for the standard GTX and $230 for the GTX+. As the 8800GTS 512 is an EOL card you may be able to find it in the $170 range if you look at the sales...

The thing is, at this time, the 4850 is already faster, and will only get better. Theres also the issue with the AA sampling, which has proven to show better on the 4850 in 2 reviews. Im expecting the 4850 to eventually be a much better card than the GTX. For 170 bucks, Id jump on it
