I'm in dire need and hope someone is online that can help. I have a GA-MA69VM-S2 motherboard, I have a dual boot system with Vista and XP (I have build several dual boot systems). Everything is fine except for the USB ports when I am in XP. Initially all seemed well after I have installed XP, then after booting into Vista and back into XP the USB ports seem to pulse, causing a USB mouse to be jerky. Vista works perfectly, but when in XP the USB ports are intermittent. Regular PS/2 mouse works fine.
Any ideas? I have already reloaded software with same results, I don't think it is a hardware issue since Vista works normally.
Have you "watched" the device manager screen?
Does it appear to have to re-enumerate the device intermittantly?
If so, there still could be a hardware problem. I am making an assumprion that vista and XP have different means of initializing usb devices. XP could be having a problem if there is noise and or timming issues on the USB data lines.
if the OS can't decide to bump down to 1.1 speed it could be your problem
