I'm looking for a good motherboard to overclock a Q6600 with. I don't have much money to spend on it. I'm thinking no more than $150. I use Nvidia 8800GTS (only one) and sli is not needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If 1066 memory is Ok then ASUS P5Q or Biostar TP45 series rate good values. You will get PCIE 2.0 and stable OC with the intel chipset. Both vendors even offer boards with higher memory standards if you need it.

What are the benefits of the Asus P5Qs?

How are Asus P5Ks?

Also if they are good which version should I get?

Both the P5Q and the TP45 offer the latest Intel chipsets (P45). When choosing a MB you decide if you want dual GPU, overclock, and fast memory, and then you choose a chipset that performs well for those choices. It is also good to read the reviews. You dont want to buy a problem. Since you were looking for OC and solo GPU, I suggested the P5Q and the TP45 since they offer latest Intel chipset (stable/good for OCing), suitable memory standard (DDR2 1066), and also PCIE 2.0 (good for GPU's). The ASUS board is supoosed to connect to the internet in 30s w/o an OS. Other boards will work fine too i.e. P35, X38, X48, and it is a little bit like buying a car (everyone has an opinion) but many MB's are overkill for some of us and you might not want to waste $$$ on features you do not need.

Hope this helps.

It indeed helps. Thanks for the nice description. I suck when it comes to picking out mobos. I just have a couple last questions.

I'm sort of leaning towards the Asus, because my friend who is helping me is very familiar with the Asus brand.

What is the difference between:

and

and

I'm not quite sure which version to get. I think the crossfire would be a waste since I use Nvidia.

Also do you happen to know any reviews reviews of the board?
I did a quick google search, but couldn't find many.

I really appreciate the help.

Well the P5Q is the no-frills, no crossfire, no raid, low cost P45 chipset. The P5Q SE might be the same with an on-board HD raid controller which I hear can cause issues. A run-away raid driver can chew up a CPU. The deluxe is a crossfire board. I am not an expert on MB's though so read the reviews and ask around.

Thanks, I guess I could check in the Asus section. Hopefully, I can finalize my decision and get my new parts in before school starts. :)
