Phenom OC doubt

I have a Phenom 9550 OC to 2.4GHZ from 2.2. Earlier when I had done this my computer crashed and this time I changed the latency of my Transcend DDR2 800Mhz ram from 5-5-5-18 to 5-6-5-18. I want to OC my processor so that I can get max performance out of my HD4850 in Crysis Warhead. Now I get 30-40 frames in Crysis Warhead with mainstream settings and 2x AA.This even goes down to 20 frames in graphics intensive places. So can I get my processor to 2.5GHZ without voltage change? I have stock cooler.

This is a picture of an MSI 4850. What is the use of the thing above the DVI ports. I asked this because in the back of my case When I put my hand near it I don't feel air going in or coming out.

The best way to increase the performance of your processor would probably be to replace it with an phenom ll .
Check your motherboards cpu support list on the makers web site
If its an AM2+ mb then a 720 BE should drop right in and then kick sand in the face of the wimpy cpu you have now

Two good suggestions, though zip's sounds like the easier one to implement. What are your temperatures btw OP?

Ill be blunt,
Your not going to get good performance on that chip with crysis period unless you invest in a good watercooling system and realy push that chip.
or you could buy a phenom II for less then the cost of water cooling. I have the phenomII 940 O/C to 3.6Ghz running stable as.
You need a stable clock speed of at least 3GHz for high end games like that.
