Hi
I just built a new pc using the P5Q deluxe motherboard. I was on bios version 0610, I should have known not to touch anything as everything was working fine after the pc was built.

But seeing the bios version was so far behind I decided to upgrade the bios to the latest version 1201.

So after the upgrade a command line box pops up and says it's updating the USB drivers.

After that I'm having issues with usb devices.

My readyboost usb drive is not detected on start up, in device manager it says it cannot start.
If I unplug the ready boost drive then plug it back in it starts working.

Also I have a zune audio device and when I launch the zune software it also says it cannot start and bombs out.

this is the error

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Any got any Ideas how to fix this? I probably should have just left well enough alone and not done the bios upgrade.

Register or log in to remove.

You might try resetting the bios by jumper.
Re-Flash the bios to the one that worked.
In device manager uninstall all the usb drivers and reboot.
Before you reboot have all the usb items removed and plug them in one at a time to see if they install and function.

try what he said

PS did you use a floppy to update the bios on the p5q or something else? I can't find anything that says it comes with something to easily update the bios

The P5Q deluxe has a utility in the bios called EZ Flash 2 that can update the bios using about any type of media. I do not have a floppy drive on my pc.

Considering that it looks like the USB drivers tried to re load after the bios update how do I go about refreshing the usb drivers from my vista disk?

The tricky part is I only have a usb keyboard and mouse, so nuking all the usb drivers might not be an option.

And it is weird in that my keyboard and mouse work, my readyboost USB drive does not work on boot up but if you remove it and re add it the usb drive will work. My Zune will not work not matter what even after reinstalling the zune software.

I'm not sure a downgrade of the bios would work as my usb drivers will either stay broken or probably try and do another reinstall of the drivers.

I think readyboost is picky if i recall, did you plug it into the exact same port you set up readyboost with?

Yea readyboost is in the exact same port, also my zune which is usb connected is not working. Seems like the usb drivers got tanked when I upgraded my bios and im stuck in a corner as I have a usb mouse and keyboard that is working but if I uninstall all the usb dirvers that may cause issues I can't get out of.

Well I tried a number of things with no success, could not get the usb drivers to act correctly.

I even did a repair install of Vista.

So after all of that I nuked my vista install and completely started over reinstalling a clean version of Vista.

So far so good, it will take about a week for me to get everything the way it was and hopefully things will work right.
