Im going to be buying a 28" viewsonic, and currently have the (g92) GTS 512 mb. The question here is, should i upgrade the card, or leave it in here. Im only looking for a single card solution, that is going to support a 1900x1200 resolution. The games I play are follows bf2, bf2142, cod4, project torque, tf2, and Counterstrike source. Im looking for the best fps average with this monitor, since picture quality has no place in a on-line FPS. Any other questions about my system are in my quote, and yes i use Vista. Thanks folks.

That depends, see benchmark.

Call of Duty 4, for example, runs at 55.8fps on 1600x1200 resolution with 4x AA and 16x AF. The resolution tested is smaller than your 1900x1200, but it has high aa and af, which can be tuned down if you want. Also, it's tested at stock, and g92 8800gts can reliably overclock at least 20%. CoD4 is more graphics intensive than the other games you moentioned, so others should do better. Is the fps still good enough for you?

Oh whatever. Your card is more than enough to run that resolution. No one turns on AAx4 and ani x 16 with such high resolution because the improvements are marginal.

I am running 2 x 24" monitors on a single 9800gtx ocx which is the same core as the 8800gts 512, and my resolution is 3840x1200 and it is running fine.

As bornking says, it will run fine. i use those resolutions on a 24" dell with a 9600GT just fine in DOD-source and Crysis. You can always go for a 1680x1050 resolution if needs be - most modern LCD's scale very well with non-native resolutions, on the dell the slight smudging on the picture could almost be taken for 'free' anti-aliasing.

I have a 24" 1920x1200 and it's running on a stock 8800GT and I can run all games except Crysis with everything maxed (no AA or AF). This includes Supreme Commander, C&C 3, CoD 4, MoH Airborne among others. I run Crysis on a mixture of med. and high so your GTS will be plenty.

The quote on not using 4 x AA at 1920 x 1200 is just plain wrong wrong wrong. If you have the power to do so, of course you will turn the AA up. I've run at 1920 x 1200 for well over a year now, and the difference between 4 x AA and none is very noticeable.

thanks for confirming what is suspected, im glad i dont have to go blow another 400 dollars on a new card, and in regards to aa, i dont use it, takes away from my fps.

Of course it takes away from your FPS - it improves image quality but increases the work your card has to do. However, if it decreases your FPS from 90 to 65, there's not really any reason not to use it.
