New build, gonna go with two Western Digital Caviar blacks, 300GB's,and was wondering how i should set my system up...
C : Windows 7 main boot up
D: Other programs, anti-virus, games, blah blah
E: Windows 7 back-up, (although i dont know how having a back up fixes the first, anyone care to explain?)
E: will be in the second HD, assumably ill have to first download windows 7 in my back up HD, then download it in the main one? Or should i just make the back up hot swappable because i highly doubt ill ever go over 300GB of data.
my prefrence is drive 1 os and programs; drive 2 my docs; external drive for backup that is only taken out of it's box to do a backup and then promptly put back in the box

ok, so i guess ill use it as a hot swappable hard drive, but explain to me how the back up works, how it actually fixes the main one, is it like when the main one wont even boot because all of the viruses and you have to use the backup to get rid of them? Furthur more, how do i get the backup to boot first? Since i guess it'll be drive E: when i plug it in
I only back up the data drive. My os and programs are sacrificial if any thing goes wrong. For me it doesn't take long to install the os and half a dozen programs you then set the my docs folder to aim at the data drive and off you go again. The rest of my software is installed on an as needed basis.
There are many programs that will back up the os and programs but none of them have worked to my satisfaction thus far so i can't give you any advice with them.
