I would greatly appreciate opinions, experiences, recommendations, or condemnations.
Need recommendations for 2 new switches for a new network.
Under 1000 each STRONG preference for under 1000 combined. These numbers includ any gbics.
Wants:
-stackable (up to 4 switches or more) in a loop
-24 ports or more, all gigabit
-intuitive and bug-free interface (NO CISCO, NO NORTEL, DOUBLE NO SITE MANGLER)
-managed, with the following exception not so much because I need it but because I might want it later.
-strong preference for channel bonding or similar so I can use 2 ports on a server
-slight preference for some form of power redundancy
Avoid:
-GBICS not included in price.
-slight preference for fanless and diskless units OR redundant fans.
ok . . . ok . . . if you feel strongly about it you can suggest nortel or cisco products :-)
Thank you kind people, I look forward to your replies.
Check out Dell, I am not sure who is making their current managed switches, but I got a couple on a lark and they have been a fantastic deal for the money.
Personally I prefer CISCO, but outside of that the only other switch I found to be reliable have been these Dell's. I purchased them with some other server equipment (they pretty much threw them in as freebies) and I have been amazed at the abuse they have taken.
