Getting ready to order some parts for a new build. I ran into these forums and have seen how much good advice you have given to everyone else. These are the things that really wet my pallet but i am very interested to see if there is anywhere i can save money on what im buying by buying another model or brand. These are the parts i found to look best for me but wondering about the case and cooling issues. For the OC question im not sure if i am going to or not but would love to have the option to. So i want to build to be able to have freedom with the system. this is about borderline of my budget if there is a way to save money somewhere else and improve performance some where else please let me know. i have read about amd for the cheaper budget but wha ti have read and seen i am very for intel atm. please leave any comment you may have bout upgrading or degrading a piece. and maybe if watercooling is evern worth it. any thing is helpfull. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and a comment.

Got picks you got there mate!

Seagate 500GB 32MB 7200.11 is better though.

To reduce your budget but still OC capable than Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L is your option.

Water cooling is not necessary just get Zalman CNPS9700LED.

With only 1 GPU Corsair VX450 or 550 is enough and cheaper.

The rest is fine.

AMD and Intel? hmmm......expensiver means more you get mate. You got what you've paid..so your choice there mate.
I don't wanna start AMD and Intel-fans war but right now I prefer Intel. Don't get me wrong, I am the neutral type, I have 2 systems at home phenom9500 and Q6600, both of them are good.

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm <--- Look at this please.

Ok here's the deal. Stay away from that mobo you chose. It's bad bad bad. It's buggy, and it over all sucks. P35 board ftw. The MSI board has way better cooling for the north bridge and south bridge than most boards out there right now, it's a great overclocker and it has no bugs/issues. It comes revised with all the updated bios for that cpu you chose, so you will have no need to flash your bios which is a very very good thing.

If your not going to do any extreme overclocking there is no need to waste your money on a big honking cpu heastsink/fan. That cpu you chose does an easy overclock to 3.6GHz just by moving up the FSB on it (8x400) which means you won't have to up the voltage for it which means no heat issues. Any overclock you do past the 3.6GHz isn't going to gain you enough over all to justify it unless your just trying to set records for 3dmark. The Zahlman 9700 is a waste of money. It's price does not justify it's performance. If you really plan on doing some extreme overclocking then I would advise getting the XIGMATEK s1283 I posted, but only if your going to really crank it up, otherwise the cheaper XIGMATEK I posted (top link), will be more than sufficient for what you need. No need for over kill especially with the good cooling/airflow you have in that case you chose. Also I highly advise that thermal paste (Arctic Cooling MX-2). It's non conductive unlike Artic Silver 5, it has no curing time unlike Arctic Silver 5, it last for years unlike Arctic Silver 5, and it does a better job of bringing down the temps than Artic Silver 5 not to mention it's easier to work with. I have used it in my last two builds and it's about the best thing since sliced bread.

Also after reading the reveiws on newegg it looks like that vid card you chose is having major heat issues and that's after those people used Riva Tuner and cranked up the fan speed to 100%. So that right there says stay away from that card. It's always good to read those reviews to get an idea if there is any issues. That MSI vid card is not only factory overclocked, but it has the best stock cooling system out there right now for a 8800GT.

Anyways I hoped this helped. You have a nice build going for ya btw. I like your choices other than the mobo and vid card. :)

hehe yah i wasnt to sure on the mb and vid card theres so many 8800's out there. havent built a new pc in 2 years so i kind of got out of the loop but wasnt to hard to get into it again.. i'm so happy to have found these forums. the only thing is i am interested in running sli on my system and have been reading 9600gt are best because of scaling. i personally dont know anyone who runs sli what would your opinion be from running the 8800gt or 2 9600gt's? Or what would you reccomend? i really appreciate all the comments that have been posted so far thankyou for all your input.

My opinion along with the majority on here is that SLI is over rated, over priced, and makes for major heat issues not to mention Nvdea boards are buggy at best not to mention there is no real gain with SLI in most games.

If you want to spend a few more dollars you could always go with the 8800GTS (G92) 512. It's the vid card in the second post in that link at the bottom of this post.

http://z3.invisionfree.com/kips_corner/index.php?showtopic=48 <--- You might want to take a look at this to see if there is anything that grabs your attention. I went with the E7200 on that first build just for the fact it overclocks so good for the price. I used the E8400 on that second build on that link.

I agree with this one. The reason is that you won't receive 2x performance but you have spent 2xand used 2x power.
Butof course, for some people, performance is everything.

As for heatsink, Zalman CNPS9700 is a very good cooler but a little expensive and a little bit noisy, but I have fallen in love with the unique form from CNPS9700 and CNPS9500. I have used Zalman products for years and I am satisfied with it.
If you like Xigmatek HDT-S1283 or scythe orochi, they are also good, and if you don't have much money and don't wanna go too high, Artic Freezer pro 7 is also good.
