Hello everyone! Over the summer i built a gamer computer and have slowly been upgrading it. I now have enough pieces to fix my mom's old computer. The only thing salvageable from it is the hardrive, dvd drive, and case. I was going to take it apart and rebuild it with the new part. Only problem is that when you have a new CPU and Mobo, you have to reinstall the os. The old dell ran vista. But the disk says only for use with a Vista computer. Problem is that the CPU i am putting in is AMD. Anyway around this? Family doesnt have funds to buy whole new OS. Hoping to use old OS.
Thanks!

Make & model of CPU is irrelevant as far as your query is concerned, possibly you have misunderstood what is meant by "the disk says only for use with a Vista computer".

As long as the new mobo manufacturer has Windows Vista drivers for that board on it's website or bundled with the board, you should have no problems.

You may, however, have to activate the new Vista installation by phone rather than online.
