I have a Biostar P4FSA board and the voltage reported in the PC Health Status section of the BIOS setup looks like this:

CPU Vcore .............................. 1.47v
AGP voltage ............................ 3.32v
+3.3v ...................................... 3.32v
+5.0v ...................................... 5.21v
+12.0v .................................... 12.09v
-12.0v ..................................... (-)11.45v
-5.0v ....................................... (-)61.84v
5v(sb) ..................................... 5.05v
Voltage battery ....................... 2.75v

It's that -5.0v entry I'm worried about. All the others reported are very near the desired voltage, but that 61.84 scares me. Help! :ouch:  Thanks.

PSU? Mobo? we need specs to help you out

oops nvm biostar.....not really a good mobo manufacturer even though i use them. PSU could be dying thus its not regulating right. or just bad readings from the motherboard. the latter can probably be fixed by a BIOS update.

I just put a brand new power supply in it - a Hercules 500w dual fan. I know, I know, cheap, but I'm poor. :)  I will update BIOS and see if that helps. Meanwhile, should I worry? Avoid running the machine? Thanks.

Here's information I found elsewhere, and, in my case, there was no white wire:

<<<< Look at the power supply connector where it plugs into the motherboard, and see if there is one white wire. The white wire would be the -5V lead. Most modern motherboard don't even use the -5V lead. Some power supply manufacturers may still put the lead in the harness, and some leave that slot empty.

If the white -5V lead is on the connector, take a digital multimeter and with the connector plugged into the board and the machine running, with needle probes take a reading on the white lead. >>>>
