Hey guys, my first post in this forum.

After overclocking my cpu, I'm running prime95 over night to test for stability.

When I checked this morning (7am), I didn't find any errors on all 4 threads but for the one of the thread, last test it completed was at 3 am.. is that thread hanging per se?

It didn't show any error message for the "hanging one".

Anyone had similar problem?

Thanks,

1 core failing is still a core failing. I got that till I upped the voltage enough.

Just don't go over 1.36V I think it is and you'll be o.k.

I see. I was just curious because I didn't get any error message from Prime95. Thanks!

By 1.36V do you mean BIOS vcore or CPU-Z vcore?

My CPU-Z vcore is much lower than what I set on my BIOS.

Have you got Round Off Checking enabled in advanced options? If not than it wont report errors

Yes. I have "Round Off Checking" checked.

Well then I guess you should go with strangerstranger`s suggestion, up the vcore by a notch or two and test again to see if the problem persists. How big is the difference between bios and cpu-z? Have you got the powersaving options disabled? What about Vdroop? Im sure bios has an option to improve it too.

ok. I will keep on increasing the vcore until there's no problem.
As for BIOS vs CPUZ vcore, when I set my bios to 1.275 then cpuz read about 1.232 on idle. One i put stress on the cpu then it will go down 1.208.. is this normal? maybe i should start a new thread. lol. thanks though.

Yes, cpu-z does not read the voltage you set it to, it reads the reported voltage, this is usually the one in the pc health part of a BIOS.

Use the one reported by cpu-z.

Have you tired just overclocking your RAM instead oc CPU? You can get wicked fast performace with your RAM...and CPU @ 3.2GHz with stock Vcore

Nope.

In almost all cases, you'll see far more gain from overclocking your CPU than overclocking your RAM, especially in the older, FSB limited architecture.
