Computer connected, linked, but explorer won't open a website.

have an ibm thinkpad, wireless network through a netgear product, the computer recognizes and connects to my network, it links it but internet explorer will not connect to a website.

Open a command prompt window and try these commands to test your connection.

ipconfig /all

You should have an IP address, Gateway address and DNS address in the list.


These commands will tell you if the connection is actually to the internet and if the DNS address is valid.
Both commands are pinging Yahoo.

ping www.yahoo.com

ping 69.147.76.15
