Hey,

I generally answer questions around here, but now I have one of my own!

I know and go along with the forum recommendations on the Fan/heatsink to buy for new builds, but I have a question.

Which is the best one for Asus P5E? A lot of coolers wont fit due to Asus's oversized northbridge heatpipe. Cost is not really an issue. The case I am using in the Antec P160 (no window).

Thanks for the help guys!

I know for sure that the Tuniq Tower fits, and i believe that the T.R.U.E and Xigmatek S1283 (Although i believe you need the seperate bolt through kit)

No idea if those will fit in your case. I would guess that the Xigmatek would be the best bet.

But if cost is no object, then im sure a waterblock will fit =P!

lol I have thought about water cooling, as cost really is not a prohibitive factor, the water cooling just requires far too much maintenance for the small gains you receive over a good air cooler. The temperature is between 19 and 25, so that helps too.

I'm thinking of swapping cases soon and plan to install Tuniq Tower 120 in the process. It gets great reviews. Apparently it will fit your MB too.

http://www.frostytech.com/articlev [...] 279&page=2 The dimensions given here - 41mm from CPU socket to bottom fin, total height 157mm. This cooler works as well or better than the TRUE or Xigmatek, all tested with same fan. No clearance issues on my board, however I am not familiar with the clearances on the P5E.

I wouldn't put to much faith in the Frostytech performance figures for comparisons, they use the stock fans for testing, and therefore their tests are not truly tests of the heatsink, but also of the fan delivered.
