hi got a nec dvd rw nd-1300a and its not reading my dvds, i managed to read a cd, but then tried again shortly afterwards and it didnt recognise it, basically it says no cd inserted. then changed the ide cable position and this time it doesnt give me no cd inserted but just acts as if i havent inserted anything, the green light doesnt even come on now when i insert a cd/dvd, whereas on the other ide position it used to come on. good for the bin or repairable?

Check the jumpers.
Put it back on the old IDE position.
If it's recognized in the bios, update the firmware.

Do you have the latest motherboard bios?

Try replacing the IDE cable.
