Hi, I'm brand new to Palm OS having just got my new Treo 600 smartphone.

I was hoping for triple redundancy of my data by using Yahoo's Intellisynch
download which purports to synch your Yahoo online PIM with your Palm
device, and so it does. But there were several unpleasant catches, as I
learned. I'd like to know if there's any solutions.

Installing intellisynch did indeed synch the Yahoo online PIM with my
Palm-based Treo, but it also seemed to cut the Palm Desktop software out of
the loop. But the Desktop software was partly in the loop because non-Yahoo
functions (such as Palm's install function) still worked. When I decided
that, given a choice, I'd prefer to synch it all to Palm desktop, I
discovered I wasn't given the choice, at least as far as I could find in the
various softwares. To get the choice back, I uninstalled everything and
reinstalled all but Yahoo's intellisync. This restored my desktop-to-palm
synch.

I am aware that I could just export the data regularly to my Yahoo account.
Pain in the neck, though!

To me, the ultimate data security (i.e., secure from loss) is to have the
data reside on my local computer, the Palm device, AND on Yahoo's server.

[Back in the days when I toyed with Microsoft CE (later Pocket PC), Yahoo
actually offered a different synch software that actually did this (i.e.,
synched all three.) But like all the MS versions of Palmtop PC's, the Yahoo
software too was not-ready-for-prime-time, so they discontinued it.]

Question:
Is there any three-synch solution in existence? I'd gladly pay any
reasonable software fee, it'd be worth it. The redundancy of
desktop/handheld synched data is wonderful, but three-way redundancy is
nearly infallible.

As far as my opinion of Palm and Treo, so far, so good. The technology
remains suboptimal, and my favorite handheld solution - ever - was still my
first, an HP 100LX (it ran DOS 3.3, but did its limited set of functions
incredibly well.) I've had about ten different "palmtop" computers since
then and all ranged from bad to worse. The Treo may be the best yet; so
far, I'm fairly pleased.

I see my timing may have been somewhat bad, too, with a new Palm OS (6.1)
just released and a new Treo (650) coming shortly!
