460 Watts Max Output, +12Va+16, +12Vb+15, +12Vc+8 something like that. It also says 12Va+12Vb+12Vc cannot exceed 365 or 380 Watts.

What is the model of the PSU and your complete specs?

you have enough amps on the 12V rails, but it depends on the quality of your psu. if you have a cheap one, it'll probably fail after some time if it's being stressed too much.

Cheap PSUs tend not to actually be able to handle outputting what their label says, if it is a cheap PSU you will have to buy a new one or risk having it die and potentially taking out other components.

Are you are too embarrassed to tell us the make of the PSU??

BTW Its quality not quantity you need. You could have a 750W PSU and it still wouldn't be enough/stable if it is built using inferior components.

I couldn't agree more. I just had an Antec 550W PSU fail on me just prior to July 4th and wiped out much of my system. Right now I have a Corsair TX750 which supposedly has a good reputation. People go cheap on power supplies but after going through what I just did, it isn't worth it. A reputable PSU may cost more and not catch people's attention like a CPU or graphics card, but it is a vital part of a system.

Which Antec bit the dust and how old was it?

It was an Antec Smartpower 500W...I'd had it about a year and a half. Went to turn off my computer and as soon as I hit "Shutdown" in Windows there was a loud pop and then the power LED on the front of my system faded on and off (along with the fans). After shutting it off the "burnt electronics" smell came and I found out afterward it wiped out my motherboard, two hard drives, and a DVD writer. I never got around to checking if the CPU and memory were still good. The system wasn't even loaded hard. The PSU was powering a P4 670 at 4GHz, 4GB 533MHz memory, PNY 7600GS, WD Raptor 150GB, Seagate 7200.9, and a SB Audigy 2. I paid extra this time for the Corsair, after reading it uses good capacitors. We'll see I guess...I'm terrified to lose everything again...haha.

well it came with my hp d5000t. and on their website; theres a choice to upgrade for 9800gt.

Ah, the smart power capacitor debacle, sorry to hear you got caught up in it. Antec has done a lot to clear their name by OEMing Seasonic. I heard, from here, not too long ago that they had changed their source from Seasonic to Delta on the EA series. Sorry, I can't Find the thread on JonnyGURU, the place to go for thorough reviews, and no I'm not shill. I don't know what the difference is, because I haven't seen a new review of the EAXXXD, on JonnyGURU. Jonny, et al., please help us to understand the Delta.

I hope Antec has...The only thing I like of theirs right now is their, cases, although I'm even finding out those may be sketchy. I have a P180 (black) and my brother just bought the P180 (stainless steel look) and his came with 3 extra fans with a note in the box saying there were some QC issues with fans. Instead of replacing them with better fans, they just provided 3 free extra of the cheap ones. Go figure...haha.

Antec has changed, they used SeaSonic for the HeoHE series(the ones I have) SeaSonic makes some of the best units out there, as they make the PC Power and Cooling Silencer Series and about half of the Corsair units along with SeaSonic branded units.

Good to know for future use. When I was shopping for my new PSU the salesmen were surprised my Antec had failed like it did and took so much with it. I guess I misunderstood what overvoltage protection was. I doubt it was a power surge that killed my system because the PSU was plugged into a Monsterpower surge protector. Anyways, I hope Mistahrj gets the recommendation not to skimp on a PSU and to get a reputable one with some excess power capacity.

I'm surprised that the salesman didn't know better...not. That is a well know problem with a bunch of the Smart Power Antecs that were made a while ago. They had bad capacitors in them.
