Problem- When I insert a disk into my IDE Lite-ON SH-165H6S drive, about 1 of 4 times the system will (sort of) shut down. The monitor goes blank (loss of video signal), but the power light on the tower stays lit. This has happened a few other times (usually when downloading large file), but DVD insert only way to reproduce it.

System: mobo-Abit AN8 SLI, CoolerMaster 550W PS, CoolerMaster Stacker case (huge), 5 fans, ASUS N6600GT video card, SATA HDD (WD2500YD), 2GB of Crucial BL6464Z (4x512). No overclocks. CPU runs < 95F, System around 100F, PWM around 105F. CPU AMD 4400+

SW = XP sp3, updated nForce, Lite-ON Firmware, Nero 6, (updated today)

Case/PSU blown out, fans pulled and hand cleaned. All RPM's in spec. No usable info in system error logs or ABIT EQ logs. Using 80pin IDE cable that came with Lite-ON drive.

Suspect Optical Drive, but looking for a way to rule out PSU.

Any suggestions?
