I can only come up with that it is my router model does not support the connection between an Xbox 360 and a PC in order to produce Windows media sharing on the Xbox 360.
After entering the 8 digit key in add extender I am presented with the screen saying 'Your extender is not connected to the same network as this computer, verify your setup key is correct, and verify your firewall/router is set up to allow UPnP discovery'.
I've tried both a DHCP assigned I.P. address for the Xbox (media extender) and also a static I.P. A static I.P. is assigned for the PC.
