I am trying to decide on one of these two boards.

Asus P5Q or Asus P5Q Pro

I will not be overclocking or playing games. The P5Q has two PCI 2.0 X 16 slots. Can that board be used with one video card? Are there any other advantages of the P5Q Pro besides the potential use of two video cards. I am even open to suggestions to other boards. Really want a solid stable board.

Thanks

Vanilla it is. Yes, 1 or 2 gpu's don't matter as long as the parts are working. Pro overclocks better.

Regular P5Q is what you want, although yes you can run solo card in a P5Q Pro.

You can also look to the ASUS P43 boards for a few more features at less price, things you might use like eSATA or firewire.

P35 boards can also be good, but the P43/P45 chipsets are newer.
