NEWEGG wish list build

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/ [...] ID=9853528

I can get the PSU for about $45

So total after rebates is $880.00

THANKS A TON !!! THANKS A TON !!! THANKS A TON !!!

9800GTX is being replaced shortly - might be wise to see what both Nvidia and ATi have to offer shortly, rumors are the 4850 will be quicker then the 9800's etc

+1 about the 9800GTX. Not worth it until you can see more information about the 4850/4870. I've already actually seen some numbers already that shows amazing performance out the 4850.

Get a powersupply from a more reputable company like Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, or even something from Corsair. 550-610W would be perfect for years to come too.

The reputation thing comes into play with that RAM. In experiences, I've found that G.Skill makes ram that works, it doesn't OC particularly well, so that might be an issue for you? Check out Crucial Ballistix, Corsair XMS2, or OCZ Reapers.

About the case, have you looked at the Cooler Master 690? It's not much more at all.

Good Luck~

+1 buying a 9800GTX is a terrible idea right now.

Wait for the new cards.

LOL? the 280/260 get raped by the 9800 gx2. i dont know about the ati cards, but when the price drops for the gx2, it might be an option

Where the hell do you live? The 9800GX2 is a terrible card to start with, being 2 underclocked 8800GTs in SLI.

The poster is talking about the 9800GTX too which is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT card.

Seriously dude, research something before you post and look like an idiot.

The 9800 GX2 gets bested easily by the GT 280 AND 260 here it is in black and white:

ok thanks guys. im already past my budget so new cases and psu that cost more probably wont work. I can buy the PSU from best buy and have a 30day return.

i plan on OC this e8400 to about 4ghz. will I need different ram than this? its the best rated ddr2 1066.

How long till the 4850/4870 comes out? I got about 2weeks left till I buy it all.

THANKS again for the help guys my first build is gunna rock :)

Getting to 4GHz is luck as much as anything, but it is going to require a better PSU than what you have. We are telling you this because its true! The PSU is the ONE area you do not cut back on due to budget concerns. Cut somewhere else.

48x0 will be out soon. 2xx series is out Wednesday.

2xx series benchmarks: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/arti [...] VzaWFzdA==
