I have an MSI K9MM-V motherboard and decided to upgrade my crappy old hard drive.
I currently have an IDE HD and just bought 2 Western Digital 500GB Caviar SATA drives with the intention of RAID 0'ing them together. I have a few questions and I would be grateful if anybody could shed any light for me.
1. The motherboard supports 1 IDE and 2 SATA slots. I have Windows XP installed on my current IDE drive. When I install my 2 SATA drives, can I set the 2 SATA drives up as RAID using software running in Windows on my IDE drive before removing it and having the RAID as my main c: drive?
2. I don't know whether or not my motherboard has a hardware RAID controller built into it or if I have to use software. I've looked on the Microstar website but couldn't find any information about it.
3. I recently flashed my BIOS to the most recent version which was a complete mess about because I don't have a floppy drive. I had to create a CD boot disk that loaded DOS and run the BIOS updater from there. Will I have to set up the RAID using DOS or will I be able to do it in the BIOS?
