I don’t think I need to replace my motherboard anymore, (XFX 780I), after a lot of fiddling around I can successfully get it to boot every time. The problem is I have to set the FSB to 1066 instead of 1333; this obviously has slowed down my Q9450.

if I set the FSB to 1333 the board will boot one in every three tries, this is not a average but exactly one in every three times, it does not matter if the system has being shut down for one minute or one day.

When it does boot on the third attempt and successfully loads windows vista the system is totally stable, however it will immediately die if I open any of the NVIDIA software, this does not happen when it’s under clocked though.

I have raised the voltages to everything to their maximum safe level and manually set the memory timings.

I desperately need help on this as its driving me crazy.

Thank you in advanced

Michael.

Precisely the problem, flash the newest bios, and it should work.

hmm.. cant help ya there. I use a USB floppy drive for bios flash.... creating bootable CD's is a bitch.

To burn an ISO just use freeware like ISO Recorder.

I too use a floppy. You can buy one for under $10. It's worth it in my opinion.
