Asus P5N-E SLI (Running Bios 1201)
Intel C2D E6300 (1.86 GHz)
Corsair 2x 1gb 800 MHz

I'll do my best to explain what is going on with my computer.

After turning on the computer the screen will stay at the bios screen for a long time (over 2 hours) without doing anything. This is before it will perform a memory test, display port configurations or allow me to hit 'delete' to go into the bios settings. This was happening before I updated the bios to 1201 from 0901. While still running version 0901 I flashed the CMOS and that improved the boot time, but didn't fix, for a couple of days before it started taking forever again. After it finishes booting everything works fine, however I do notice a lag now when loading programs.

Any ideas on the cause of this delay? What is the boot sequence that the bios goes through before checking memory?

I'll try that out tonight when I'm home and see what happens. Should I also unplug the hard drive?

no don't unplug your hard drive unless it's an external drive that does not have your OS on it. also when you turn the pc on and it beeps hit the delete key and enter bios. hit the F key that says restore defaults (usually F5) then hit save and exit (usually F10).
see if it posts and boots into windows. If not, you may have a momory hardware problem.
