I fixed it. It was some BIOS settings I did. I loaded the fail-safe settings after I tried to overclock but I didn't think it would actually disable my sound...

I have no idea what happened but my sound is totally gone. Windows tells me I have no audio devices installed, I've tried reinstalling my sound drivers but still nothing. I don't know why it just stopped working I have my speakers plugged in I and I don't think I changed anything.

I seriously have no clue whats wrong. I am using the MSI P6N Diamond's built-in sound card it's a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme.

Is it possible I have destroyed my sound card? This computer is practically brand new I only built it a few weeks ago.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm using a diamond, too. When overclocking speeds sent my computer into a fever (overheating), i decided to try the restore whatver defaults... only to then have no sound.

I'm curious if you found a solution.

this also happens to me with my creative titanium HD. just to have you know this isn't in anyway a hardware issue. it's a driver/registry problem. as whenever I restore my pc to a good backup I have, the card is recognized with no issues. without even bothering removing and re-installing the card from the PCIE slot.
