I'm trying to build a severely budgeted p.c. It has to be real close to 600$. I am interested in running a lot of intensive programs at the same time, so I'm thinking I would like 4gigs of ram and a quad core processor. I don't play to many video games anymore but I'll need a little something for the ones I do. I have a pretty big preference towards ASUS so if its possible I would rather use their stuff. Anybody got any ideas on how to pull this off? Thanks in advance

Anyone feel free to jump in and change stuff on my configuration but i personally think with his Goals in mind the Stableness and reliability of the overall system this is his best bet. Hope it helps :pt1cable:

Note: I did not choose the Optical to be sata cause of chipset compatibility issues that everyone is experiencing.

Looks good to me. Perhaps a 8800GS card, but that pushes the budget a bit more......

Can you elaborate on the chipset problems with the SATA Optical? I just ordered one myself for a system I'm building.....

yeah no need to include the price of the o/s. I'm wondering if there is a better deal out there for a case and p.s. And maybe I can save a little on the HD I have another computer I can use to hold any large amounts of data. Thanks for the advice Shata

Well that is a intel chipset, But some of the 6 and 7 series nvidia chipsets are having problems with sata optical drives and installing vista. I have this problem currently also (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/252369-31-vista-install-blue-screen-problems)

Well i was thinking with the harddrive deal...52$ - 120gb / 67$ 320$...your better off with the 10$ more one honestly. But yeah there is cheaper ones if you wana swap it out.
