anything bad on here? how far should I be able to overclock this?

I was going to suggest stepping down a PSU size to the 550VX but seeing the 650TX has free shipping from NewEgg is actually less expensive ATM.
You have a good list there.

Best overclocking results depend on the "luck of the draw" in getting a good E8400 instead of an average E8400. You can expect something in the range of ~3.8Ghz - 4.0Ghz with what you've picked out.

I just means how lucky he gets when he overclocks the E8400. Some processors overclock better than others even for the same model/stepping.

Thanks for the replies, this is my first full on build so I wanted to make sure it was set up good.

I actually got the corsair 650tx for $87 shipped from buy.com (89.99 -10 from google checkout + 7 tax (stupid NYS) and free shipping) and they have the $10MIR that newegg has.

My old setup a friend put together for me needed an upgrade badly.

CPU: Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 939 2.0GHz)
RAM: 4x512MB DDR400
HDD: WD 120GB SATAII
MOBO: Asus A8V-XE
GPU: Asus 7600GS 512MB Silent
PSU: Coolermax 450W
DVD: MAD-DOG DVD/CD burner

sold that to a coworker with my microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse and 17" 4:3 Rosewill LCD monitor for $500
