Hi,

I would like to know if it's normal that the power supply of this desktop computer: Gateway FX4200-EBF01A is only 400 watts?

I was going to buy it until I saw that it was only 400 watt, what do you recommend? (click on the specifications tab) :??:

If that is a top quality 400W power supply (which i don't think it is) then the computer would probably be fine. If it is one of those cheap $10-$15 400W power supplies then I think that PC will crash and burn very quickly.

 

EDIT: If you are looking for a new PC, build it yourself. You can build that exact same PC for probably a few hundred dollars cheaper and even throw in a better video card. If you are definitely not going to build, i suppose you could get that and maybe upgrade the power supply.

That is probably a stronger PSUthan the vast majority of Retail Systems.
That is also a good GPU for a retail system.

You can likely build better, but if you don't want to build, that is not a bad system.

If you don't want to build go ahead and buy it. Hopefully gateway uses standard power connectors so that the psu can be changed if it gives you problems.
