My Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB disk (mounted in external box) has stopped spinning and says click-click-click. No falling or physical harm.

A hard disk failure unfortunately. Were you able to back up the data?

Clicking is a bad thing....since it's 2 versions back, it's kinda old but as I recall those had a 5 year warranty.

Aww, this happen to me once. It first stopped reading, then it completly stopped. No life what so ever. I left it laying around for a while and I came across it again... I was going to bin it as it was a waste of space, but I thought the hell with it, let me try it one last time and Walla!! it just started to work again.

I have no clue to how it happen... This also happen to one of my Sata hard disks that blew out during a thunder storm... Again, a few months later I tried it and till today I'm still useing it :)

As I said, I have no clue to how they just... worked again. But I guess its worth leaving it around for a while before scrapping it.

Thank you all. I really appreciate all your efforts to help. The solution came when I dismounted the disk from the LaCie external tray and connected it directly to a PSU 5/12 V power supply. Appearently the error was in the LaCie electronics and not in the Barracuda disk. It spins and work great w/o any noise at all. All date saved and stored elsewhere. Case closed.
