Core 2 Duo E6750 - Mother GA-P35-DS3L P35 - Wich memories???

Hi guys.

A few months ago I upgraded my computer to a Core 2 Duo E6750 with a Gigabyte Mother GA-P35-DS3L P35.

Both supports 1333 FSB and I have DDR2-667mhz memories installed in the system.

Would it be beneficial if I upgrade my memories to DDR3-1333mhz?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Are you talking about this motherboard?: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2599

If that's the right one, it doesn't support DDR3 memory. It supports up to 1066mhz DDR2 memory. If you were to upgrade to that speed, you would notice very little increase in performance. Probably only noticeable in benchmarks and not in real-life.

  2. STOP The P35-DS3x line of boards are known to have issues with RAM above DDR2 800 (ie DDR2 1066). Get a good quality set of DDR2 800 and OC it. For more information see:
    GUIDE: Overclocking On P35-DS3L

DDR2 and DDR3 are NOT backward compatible If you are not OCing stick with the DDR2 667 RAM.
  3. I second that. Stick with either DDR2 667 or 800.
