low-mid price gaming rig

I need help with the parts for a gaming build for around $500-800 australian.

I do not require a monitor,optical drives, speakers, keyboard,mouse or case. However i do need an operating system, motherboard, ram, processor, cooling, video card, psu & hard drive. Not partically keen on overclocking either. Any help would be appreciated.

Here we have e7200 which can easily OC to 3.6+ I know you said you dont want to but if you did this one is a winner.

8800gt good brand after rebate good price

new p45 board will be great and supports the 45nm e7200 outa the box

lotsa other goodies inthere as well.


After the rebates were at $560ish thats w/o a O/S but i wasnt sure what you wanted.

mmmmm you should wait until the new ATI cards come out. hopefully they will out perform the 8800gt and be about the same price if not cheaper. i would also suggest the antec 300 case. that rosewell does not have good air flow. thats good ram licid24 picked out as well as the mobo. if you do go with the 8800gt i would suggest getting the msi version( it has a dual wide copper cooler and the fan is adjustable). i would not suggest that hard drive. the seagate 7200.11 250gb 16mb cashe with the good seek times is only like 60 dollers from newegg. if you go for vista you should have a bigger cashe. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/252457-31-will-7200-32mb-cache-greatly-outperfom-current#t1821269

After seeing this thread I googled an Australian online PC hardware store...and lol...goodluck on that build of yours. The prices down there are way out in space.

i have found the best way to find parts in australia is to use www.staticice.com.au and it usually comes up with the cheapest price.
